Welcome to the coffee-inspired ramblings of Jonathon T. Cross. This is my first blog, wherein I will share a random assortment of unsolicited opinions, experiences, current and upcoming events, and book related news.
First off, a little about myself. I love punk rock and metal music, and I have the hair to prove it. I also love unique musicians like Leonard Cohen. He strikes me as a badass goth at heart. My favorite environment to be in is not, however, the seedy underground cityscape of tagged concert venues, but the serene and beautiful nature of island life. I’m looking at you, Hawaii. I’ve lived a wild and interesting life full of learning experiences which I am grateful for but would never, under any circumstances, wish to repeat.
Still, this life has made me who I am, and I wouldn’t want it any other way. A lot of who I am makes its way into my writing, from the piss poor decision making to the comical interpretation of things which are typically left unspoken. I’m an analytical person who never stops thinking and sometimes it drives me mad, but it also gives me a good sense of who I am and what I choose to believe. Fields like psychology and philosophy interest me. I have a degree in psychology and what I consider an honorary degree in philosophy provided by sensational herbs (basil and oregano mostly).
Currently, I’m working on my second horror novella, which is set in the 1950s, in a small Bayou town in Louisiana. This story was inspired by a news article from years back, when kids around town started receiving dolls in their likeness on their doorsteps. I remember thinking to myself, that’s about the creepiest shit I’ve ever heard. Now, in real life, it turned out that a sweet old lady made and hand delivered the dolls. But I couldn’t help thinking…what if it wasn’t a sweet old lady? That’s what got the ball rolling, and I don’t entirely know how the story will turn out but, in my eyes, a lifelike doll on the doorstep of a ten-year-old child who just moved to a creepy nowhere town seemed like a good start.

Anyhow, I think that’s all I have in the tank for now. Thanks for taking the time to read my ramblings and please leave a comment below, sharing your own fun stories, inspirations, favorite bands, or whatever.
Love the idea! Good luck!
